Cleaning the Driveway

Since Hubs has been retired (as of last January), he's been getting a lot done outside. Things he had little time for while he was working are now things he can work on anytime he wants. And he's a-busy! Today he finished cleaning the driveway with the pressure washer.

He borrowed our son's attachment that works large areas and it went so much faster! What a great invention!

He got the big area by the house done on Saturday.

In that pic above, you can see the last of my living deck plants sitting in our wagon. I can wheel them out to water and get sun, and then wheel them back into the garage every evening. I'm ready for cold weather. If only we'd get some! Okay, we're getting a little, but it does not feel like November yet!

You can see below where he stopped on Saturday. What a difference! It's amazing how grimy concrete gets!

No finished pic, sorry, but you can imagine how much better it looks now. That pressure-washing attachment sure made it a lot easier to get the job done!

My "Craft+" Room and Some Cards I've Recently Made

This post has been so hard to create! I don't know why! So please forgive any poor writing. I'm just so out of practice, I guess! I have had to rewrite and rewrite it! 🀯

A friend asked if I would share what my craft room currently looks like. It's actually more than a craft room, so I'm calling it "craft+". I use the space to store many things! I like to make things. You might've noticed that if you've been here awhile. I'm a bit of a creativity junkie.πŸ˜‰

Sometimes I play on my laptop or watch a video in here. I also enjoy watching the birds at the feeders and bird baths from my window, sitting at the little brown desk that once belonged to my dear mother-in-law, who passed away in 2018. She was a bird lover, too. Yesterday, I saw what I think was a Baltimore Oriole! I've never seen one before, and it was such a beautiful sight to see! I hope he comes back again, so I can take a picture of him to show you.

I've been playing with a zoom lens Hubs got me a few years ago. It's so cool! I'm still very amateurish, but it's been fun catching some close-up bird shots from my window.

One of my off again/on again hobbies is stamping/card-making. I have a stamping blog that I post my cards on. I like to keep a lot of my stamping supplies near me when I work. Now that I'm making cards again I needed somewhere to put it all, or at least most of it. I bought some storage furniture at Sam's Club that would also look pretty in the room. I had actually kind of given up on card-making for a time and thought I'd never do it again. I had put away the 2 big tables that I had used as my stamping area so that I could keep my canning stuff in here because that was my current biggest hobby at the time, and I wanted to display my jars. Home-canned food is so beautiful to look at, don't you think? I didn't really have a good spot to make cards at this point and my urge to stamp was pretty much disappearing, so I figured why keep all that stuff? I got Hubby to sell a lot of my stamp sets on eBay. And I really had no idea what to do with everything else, so I just put it away in tubs. But one day that urge returned. Thankfully, I still had plenty of stamps and stamp stuff to play with!

These drawer units have really been nice. They hold my punches and embossing supplies and glitters and such. I keep my markers on top of the wider one and my dry embossing supplies in the white basket on top of the narrow one. They also roll around, which is so useful.

The tall, narrow one holds my ink pads baby wipes, stamp cleaners, glues, tapes, tweezers, etc. These are my most-used items, so they're the easiest to get to.

As you can see, I have a table (also from Sam's Club) set up in the middle of the room. I really needed it!

This has opened up my whole world! Conveniently, it folds in half and can be stored away in the closet if need be. It locks open and is very sturdy, and gives me so much room to spread out! And I can even keep a sewing machine out all the time for embellishing cards or repairing clothes. It thrills me to no end!

You can see behind it that I keep my home-canned foods, water storage and dry goods on the shelves, which I also bought at Sam's Club. I also keep all my canning jars and lids stored there. These things hold so much! It's basically a Sam's Club room now! Seriously, I never realized how much I got from there!

We store our soft drink collection here. We don't drink much soda. Usually we split one on Friday pizza nights as a special treat. But we like variety, and we like having plenty of offerings for guests.

It's a very practical room, as you can see. We keep the printer and supplies in here as well as the cat box, kitty's food and water, and her perch where she watches the birds with me. 🐦🐦🐦🌞

In the picture below you can barely see more food storage to the left on a third shelf unit. That's where I keep some of our dry goods in buckets. I'm not a Mormon, nor a prepper. I just like to pay less by buying in bulk, and I don't like running out of anything!

Btw, the closet is to the left of that shelf and out of view. I keep the stamps and all of my card stock in there. I'll do a separate post on the closet. It's a tad messy right now and I need to tidy it up and take some pictures first.

So that's my craft+ room! Snug, but in a cozy sort of way.

And to show you what I'm doing in there these days, here are 2 cards I recently made.

I have 4 more cards I've made that I'll try to post soon. Thanks for coming by for a visit! Hope you enjoyed this little tour of my creative spot! Have a lovely day, my friends!

Two Instead of One🧢🧢

Hello! Thanks so much for the kind comments in my last post! πŸ₯°

Here's another post on what I did while not blogging in the last year.

After making the blanket for my youngest grandson, I wanted to make one for his little sister so they could kind of match. But I wanted to pick different colors for hers...more girly colors. So I looked through my yarn swatches and picked out a bunch of yarn colors I thought would look good together. These are what I came up with: (Stylecraft Special DK) Sage, Buttermilk, Pistachio, Lime, Gold, Parchment, Mocha, Mushroom, Pale Rose, Lincoln, Camel, Meadow, Grape, Duck Egg, and Wisteria. Don't they have lovely names?

You might've noticed that this blanket looks bigger than my grandson's. It is. I'm a bit of a lazy measurer, apparently. I thought I knew how many chains to stitch at the start, but I got it wayyyyy wrong. You know when you think you've got the right info in your head and you actually don't, but you don't find that little tidbit out until later? Yeah, that was me. I didn't bother comparing it to his blanket which would've helped tremendously. And I had worked a lot of the blanket before comparing, I was so confident. Despite that mistake I went ahead and finished the blanket. I gave it a Sage finish. I didn't have the heart to unravel the whole thing.

Thankfully, the smaller blanket was going to take a lot less time to work now that I'd already made it once. See the size difference?

Now it looks the right size!

I still enjoyed making the second one. And it definitely went quicker!

And I finished the edge in Grape.

So I made 2 blankets instead of one (well, 3 if you count my grandson's). My youngest daughter saw the bigger one and wanted it, so it found a good home right away. Everybody's happy!

This pattern is such a pleasure to work with. A very Zen pattern. Just gotta make sure to measure it right for the size you want! πŸ˜„ I definitely plan to use it again. And I promise there are other things besides crochet that I'm working on! Just trying to catch y'all up on what I did the year I took off of blogging.

Y'all take care and have a great weekend! ❤️

🧢Another Finished Crochet Blanket from 2023

Hello all!

It's been raining here thanks to Hurricane Francine and we're loving it.  It's been a dry summer and I'm thankful it's over.

One of my projects last year was the Cosy Stripe Blanket by Attic24.

I had started it and was into the second color repeat when I showed it to my then 5 yo grandson and he asked if he could have it. So I said yes, and decided to end it after the third repeat to make it his size.

It was really enjoyable to work on and I loved it so much I made another one with different colors for my then not quite 2 yo granddaughter. I'll show that one to you in the future.

The colors were a pleasure to look at every day. And I especially enjoyed working on the border. These were the colors I used for the border (Stylecraft Special DK Gold, Denim, Lime and Claret).

I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

It really pops with the Claret edge!

I will show you the one I made for my little grand girl soon. Hope you all are hanging in there! Take care and God bless. ❤️
